The Bridge is proud to premiere Kansas City’s favorite daughter, Danielle Nicole in her new solo project. She's set to make her Concord Records solo debut on March 10 with the release of New Orleans-flavored, blues-soul based EP. We’re proud of the fact that Danielle generates such long lines at her hometown gigs here, even hours before the show. And when you see her live, you’ll understand why.
Although she’s just won a Blues Music Award for Best Bassist, her greatest instrument is her voice, which she uses to sing soulfully about the things that really matter. Get ready to stand in line like the rest of us! Hear the first track, "You Only Need Me When You’re Down," on air.
The self-titled EP features GRAMMY®-winning producer-guitarist Anders Osborne, Galactic’s co-founding drummer Stanton Moore and her regular keyboardist Mike “Shinetop, Jr.” Sedovic. Four tracks were recorded in New Orleans with Osborne. Stanton Moore holds court behind the drumset, Mike “Shinetop, Jr.” Sedovic plays keyboards and Danielle lays down the basslines while also handling all of the vocals.
The last two tracks on the EP were recorded live at The Bridge. Danielle sang and played acoustic guitar in their studios doing stripped-down, intimate versions of “You Only Need Me When You’re Down” and Bob Dylan’s classic “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right”. Danielle is currently heading out on the road opening for George Thorogood and Buddy Guy.
