For her project, Claire and the Crowded Stage, Claire Adams has created solid, refined pop songs with an orchestra of cohesive moving parts. But for her upcoming solo EP “Waiting For the Winds To Change,” she’s chosen to chart her tunes on a different course, stripping them down to their most essential elements. With that, we are excited to premiere the EP’s lead single, “Boom.”
Adams has a keen ability to write songs that are both buoyant and dramatic, and collaborates with players who bring out these strengths. In “Boom,” her bouncing bass line and quick vocal phrasings seamlessly accompany Katy Guillen’s playful acoustic guitar riffs — heightened by the nuances of her backing vocals and Lennon Bone’s reliable backbeat.
Catch Claire Adams’ debut show at 5:45 this afternoon at Crossroads Flock Party. She’ll be joined by Bone on drums and Nick McKenna on bass. Watch for the EP to be released this fall.
