A true, transcendent icon of modern music, Herbie Hancock has long been at the forefront of world culture, technology, business and music. In the 1960s, he helped pioneer a groundbreaking jazz sound as a member of the Miles Davis Quintet. He went on to create innovative albums of his own — including “Head Hunters,” “Rockit” and “Future Shock” — fusing electric jazz with funk and rock elements.
On Saturday, August 12, Hancock will appear at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts with his band, which includes Vinnie Colaiuta (drums), James Genus (bass), Lionel Loueke (guitar) and Terrace Martin (keys/saxophone).
