The Big Sky: ‘Dog Eat Dog World’ Exclusive Video Premiere
Wrapping up a month-long tour through the Southwest and Pacific Northwest, The Big Sky is on its way back home to Lawrence, Kansas, and is releasing a brand new music video. “Dog Eat Dog World” is the lead track from the trio’s first independent full-length, providing us with some much needed levity. “The song is about how making new friends can be hard, feeling out of place sometimes but still dreaming big and pushing through by trying your hardest,” said Michaela Carmen, the band’s percussionist and one of its banjo players. At the end of May, The Big Sky released “Western Esoteric” — its first studio release after changing its name (formerly known as Monzie Leo and The Big Sky) and leaving its record label, Little Class Records. Co-written by all of the band’s members — Carmen, Monzie Leo and Derek Long — it’s a seven-track effort of charming bluegrass and wistful prairie folk. The video was directed by Thorsten Fraley and filmed in Lawrence. Here’s The Bridge’s premiere of “Dog Eat Dog World,” by The Big Sky.
